Los Algodones (properly spelled) is in the state of Sonora. Loreto (properly spelled) is in Baja California Sur and is the historic capital of our entire peninsula. The tip of our peninsula is referred to as Los Cabos in honor of the two mission towns, Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.

A publisher should respect the orthography of his chosen area. You wouldn't want us to say that you come from the United Snakes.

Thank you for correcting the typo, but I must correct you, Los Algodones is in Baja California. It does sit near the state border between Sonora, so I can understand the confusion.

As for the respect, I completely agree. I do apologize for the error, I am new to this forum and made the mistake when Loreto was underlined in RED in Google and I used it's correction without checking it thoroughly. That's why I have an editor on staff; if only I could get her to edit my letters as well ;-)

Thanks again

Does anyone know how to edit posts, once they've been posted, or is it not possible? Many boards allow the poster to edit their own posts, and that could be useful - apparently.

I stand corrected and I apologize for the miscorrection. Los Algodones was the historic beginning of Mexicali, when Otis and Chandler (of the Los Angeles Times) grew cotton there: it had become marginalized by 1914, when Colonel Esteban Cantú moved the territorial capital of Baja California Norte from Ensenada to what had been the Los Algodones "suburb" of Mexicali. During the Revolution, Los Algodones was part of the Sonoran theater of operations and continues being such today in the so-called drug wars. But it is, as you have said, part of Baja California.

You will see two or three little icons at the bottom-right of each post. Two icons for other people's posts, three for your own. The middle icon of your own posts is the edit button.

If I had been short with you earlier, I apologize once again. Those of us who have been defrauded by the previous gringo publishers (Baja Breeze, Baja Lifestyle) have become suspicious of, even hostile toward, yet more gringo publishers. They talk a good game but then they run back home, leaving us to pay the bills.

No worries, I understand. I appreciate the reply. Mexico Living is here for the long haul, we've been publishing since Feb. 2007 and are stronger than ever. We are the only Baja publication that is actually available throughout the entire Peninsula and growing monthly.

On a side note, Colonel Esteban Cantú remaining family are very good friends of mine. They still own Cantu cove in San Felipe and both Valerie and Lois Cantu are very good friends and wonderful, wonderful people.

Again, thanks for the reply.

John,
Are you still in need of a writer based out of the Loreto/Mulege area????
Email me at vintageelsinore@msn.com as soon as possible as I will be leaving Utah for that part of Baja the first week of August. Thanx.
