What would be the best route to San Felipe from San Diego? I have seen several diffrent ways one going through ensenada, tecate or calexico. Passing through ensenada seems the best way from me.

The fasted is to go east on I-8 from San Diego, south on 111 at Calexico into Mexicali, then south on Mex. 5... Allow about 5 hours if you are not towing or in a moho.

South to Ensenada then east/southeast to Mex. 5, then south to San Felipe looks more direct, but city traffic in Tijuana and Ensenada will add time... It is a pretty drive however.

I agree. Take I-8 to Calexico and then South on 5 which will drop you right into San Felipe. It is a much nicer drive and for the most part easier through traffic with straight roads.
