if we're pulling a light trailer, what is the best route to Bahia Gonzaga? South from Puertocitos or east from Catavina/Hwy 1?

With a group that includes a 9 mo old and four teenagers, what provisions are most important to bring along (eg: frozen milk?). We want to avoid buying food that is already sold there even if it's pricey. Paper money is easier to pack than cases of soda from Costco.

Thanks.

Paul

My husband and I have traveled Baja for years. Last week, 03/29/03, was the first time we ran into wind south of Catavina literally blowing trucks pulling trailers (5th wheels) off the highway (Kilometer 207) including one big rig trailer around kilometer 204. It was unreal.

As I said, this is a first time experience after 20 plus years of Baja travel. This note is to remind you to pay attention to mother nature -

vida dulce, We left Bahia De Los Angles on the 16th of March in rain and spent the night at Stana Inez, the next day the wind ony got worse amd it was 69 MPH out of the west by the time we got to San Matias, crossing Laguna Salada was like steering a boat at sea, I had to slow to 25 MPH for 40 miles to keep from being blown off the road. Almost no traffic at all and the wind chill at the army check point at the bottom of San Matias Pass was was 40* The soldiers had on all the clothes they owned and full rain gear with overcoats. Not the usual Baja Balmeness.
