Hi everyone... just curious if anyone has made the trip south of Puertacitos to Gonzaga Bay since the hurricane? Was wondering if it tore up the road or anything. We're caravaning down there on Thursday the 9th. Thanks!

Thanks for your response - and the mosquito repellant tip (wouldn't have even thought about it!) Now we just have to see if we can avoid hurricane Nora, due in later in the week. Smile

While the majority of the road is passable in 2WD, there is one place, south of Gonzaga and before Coco's Corner, where you have to cross a dry streambed with deep sand. There was evidence that other travelers had had problems. It was about 30 feet wide. There is another point in the road, after Coco's and 2 miles before Chapala, where you are required to make a short deviation completely off the raised roadbed. A longer vehicle might have problems there (mine is a 4WD surbarban and we had no trouble}.
