We are looking seriously as a trial residence in La Paz or Ensenada with hopes to make it 'permanent.' Cabo is certainly out for us as would be something really small.

Apart from obvious US access differences, what are the strongest arguments favoring (or possibly eliminating) either site?

I certainly hope some of you will take a swing at comparable housing costs. I think we would want a stand-alone house maybe 1600-2000 square feet {say less then 200 square meters].

Naturally, we are also most interested in our ability to interact both with the Mexican AND norteamericano communities. I don't think we want to go down and hang out as the Lone Rangers. By the way, we are 50-ish and I would not envision a need to work issue.

So, take a swing at it. From all my reading it appears both have many merits and surely a trip down is necessary prior to our decision, but I would love your ideas and input.
