Hello,
A friend and I are taking our 4 kids to San Felipe in June. We were hoping to rent a condo or small house somewhere in town or nearby. Does anybody have suggestions on how to locate places? We've done some web searching but it hasn’t produced many helpful results.

Better yet, do you know anybody who would wants to rent us their place for 3 nights (June 18-20, leaving June 21). Our kids are rugged so sleeping on floors is an option for them.

Alternatively, recommendations for a decent (but not expensive) hotel would be helpful. My friend and her family are not into beach camping (alas!).

Finally, has anybody stayed at Rancho Percebu (15 south of town). I think I've driven in and looked around. As I recall it is quite quiet and remote. Probably a few nights we'll want to go out f or a fun dinner with a tequila or 3. So driving for 15miles south seems less then ideal. Any advantages to being so far out of town?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Yours, Marc

Have you tried looking at ElDoradoRanch.com

Reasonably priced homes $100 up, new, individually owned but rented by the Ranch. It gives you the ability to use all the facilities (pool, tennis, golf etc) it is 5 miles north of San Felipe.

You do not want the kids to sleep on the floor because it is pretty hard (tiled vs. carpeted).

El Dorado Ranch is a resort destination development selling land where you can build your own homes. While you are there, you might be interested in looking at the 1/4 acres starting at $38,500 and up. If you are interested, I can give you contacts of agents who work and live in San Felipe. They can give you a tour without obligation.

Let me know.

There are no trentals at Percubu only beach camping , resturant & bar. Kinda long ways to go for drinks if you are staying in town or north of town, but if you are just looking for a beach for the day should be ok. We just had lunch there recently, food was good & drink but somewhat spendy for lunch! But who cares somedays huh? LOl!Not much for lunch & drinks that way until you get to Chelas farther down or to Puertocietas.

WOW David! I can't belive the rates on those places, in Percubu at that!!!! Percubu is a nice place to visit occasionally but Terrible on week ends , holidays, etc. Lotsa beach campers , noise, parting etc. I guess it's ok if it's what ya come for but not my idea of a fun Baja trip.
Not even EDR has rentals that are that high I don;t think anyway as I have not seen them listed that high.
definitly not the Run Of The Mill rates!

Marc,
I own a home in Rancho Percebu. The distance to San Felipe is about 23 kilometers. Percebu does get a little crazy on Holidays and on Spring break. They also have a Poker run scheduled for the 4th of June. This weekend at Percebu will be packed but anytime later in the month you should find Percebu to be calm and quite. Your kids may think otherwise unless you have quads or something for them to get around in. If you do not have a desert vehicle your travel will be limited to access from a standard auto or by foot. If you enjoy walking on a deserted beach and maybe doing some clamming or shell hunting, Percebu may be just what you are looking for. Most of the residences will head back to the states in early to mid June and will return sometime in September or October due to the heat. So you might find it exceptionally quite at this period. If you do not stay there you should at least plan a day trip at low tide for clamming. It is a superb spot for butter clams and also offers some of the most beautiful sunrises in Baja Norte. Hope this helps
Jim
