Hola Amigos,

I am a Ph.D. student at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. I have been studying shallow water hydrothermal vents (ie hot springs in the intertidal and shallow marine settings) in Bahia Concepcion. I have heard reports of many other coastal hot springs in the Gulf of California/Sea of Cortez. If anyone reading this knows of other sites where hot water and/or gas bubbles are occuring in the intertidal (aside from Puertecitos and Los Barriles, which I have heard about--although if you have some interesting stories about those sites I would love to hear them!) and shallow marine settings, I would love to hear from you...

Gracias y saludos,

Matteo

Thanks for the info David K.

As I explore around the internet, I see that you have a lot of posts on this site and others. I was particularly interested in the info about the soda springs/onyx mineralizations that you described near Gonzaga. Can you send me more info at shallowvent@yahoo.com . Also, if you have seen any fish or other animals around the hot springs that you have visited, I would be very interested to hear about it!

Gracias y saludos,

Matteo
