I'm looking for some good snorkeling in the San Felipe and Ensenada area of Baja Norte. I have young children so I'm hoping to find fairly gentle waters.
With small children, I recommend the San Felipe area. Preferably a drive south to Puertecitos. The water is much warmer, calmer and kid friendly. Chances are the water will be clearer there than on the west coast. The water on the Pacific side is affected by waves, wind, rains, pollution from the fishing industry and doesn't offer very good snorkeling. Puertecitos has Hot Springs at the waters edge that seem to attract lots of fish. Although the southern part of Baja offers much better snorkeling opportunities, there are many places with rocky areas that the fish hang out in. Find one anywhere and you won't be disappointed.
Sorry, I should mention Punta Banda or La Bufadora. The southside of the point south of La Bufadora (Puerto Escondido) has incredible snorkeling and usually crystal clear water but I wouldn't consider it (kid friendly).
