Great news. Villa Bahia now has a BRAND NEW compressor and cascade system. They can fill to 3500psi, DIN or yoke fittings. Roger and Jean have made a great effort to accomodate divers. Their 23' cabin cruiser and pangas are super for diving, the cruiser can hold 4-6 divers, the pangas 4. The boat drivers know some excellent locations for diving. If you need dive services, look them up. I had 14 divers down there for a week and everything went smoothly.

Though Villa Bahia is a great place for divers to stay, I would highly recommend using Ricardo's Diving Tours for dive services. I have been going to LA Bay for years, have 50+ dives there, and know just about every guide in town. While Villa Bahia guides are great for fishing and eco-tours, they don't know where the best sites are and do not accompany you underwater. Many of the best sites, especially on the outer islands, are not easy to locate once you're underwater. Ricardo is the only guide in town that knows these sites. In addition he has great eyes for critters like frogfish and seahorses, and runs a safe operation (compressor is well-maintained with airline grade filter and CO detector. In addition, his boat is better suited for speed trips to the outer islands where the best diving is. Check out www.scubabaja.com and/or email ricardoarcen@hotmail.com-Look for sign on right as you enter town.
While everyone is going to have their preferences, I'd like to make a pitch for supporting a locally owned business. Nothing against Villa Bahia-they're nice folks and have a great setup accomodation-wise for divers. I hope they can hook up with Ricardo and join forces in the future. Good luck diving.
