For someplace with a palapa(sp) = 'shade' try Gecko.
campgecko.com have a look. South of town 3? miles. Or Larry & Racheal (this name not quite right) north of town 2 ? miles. Or keep going north to La Gringa (from town about 5 ? miles for free camping.
Also look here - http://www.campdaggetts.com/

reefrocket,

Thanks so much for your recommendations on campsites. Camp Gecko looks great. I will definitely consider it. My group and I have wondered about San Felipe as well. Do you or anyone on the boards know of campsites in San Felipe?

I haven’t been to San Felipe. But you should try Tim’s Baja pages ‘Baja links’
When there select ‘Baja places’ and then it has two site on San Felipe and also more info on Bay of LA. If info gathering try Fred Medcalfs’(sp) site and bulletin board. If you like ‘Lively’ Baja boards try Amigos (LOTS of info is disseminated there. It has its own search engine to fine things you are looking for.
Tim’s pages--- http://timsbaja.com/
Freds pages--- http://math.ucr.edu/ftm/baja.html
Fred and Tim’s board --- http://math.ucr.edu/~ftm/bajaPages/MsgBoard/MsgBoard.html
Amigos board --- http://www.bajanet.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
And here is a way to get to them all and a site operated by a definite Baja explorer. --- http://www.davidksbaja.com/davidsmessage.html

Try www.ontheroadin.com
Click on the Mexico Map until you see a trailer icon. Click on the trailer for reviews and pictures.

In San Felipe, go to Laguna Percebu @ 15 mi. south of town, big sign at turnoff. No crowd, great beachcombing. Gil
