hi, you are driving from where? Mex 1 from what i've driven (cabo to mulege...from the west and east coast) is very smooth, but narrow. Watch for fallen rocks, cows, goats and crazy drivers in general. Try not to be too freaked out by tons of roadside memorials....don't drive at night! The west coast from cabo to tados santos is less mountainous, but under wicked construction (in july). I don't know how far they've gotten since then, but i'd take that route over the east coast drive...even tho scenic...i was a nervous wreck. Very little guard rails and no shoulders to speak of. good luck!
