My wife and I are planning a anniversary motorcyle ride up to Mike's Sky Ranch. Currently our plan is to truck the bikes down the pacific coast, leave the truck someplace "safe", such as the Baja Malibu RV park (for the 2 days we'll be gone), then ride up to Mike's from the Pacific side near Punta Colonet. After spending 2 nights at Mike's exploring the vicinity, ride back down to truck, load up, and drive home north.
Any suggestions on this itinerary would be appreciated, especially a safe location to leave a Ford p/u truck for a few days unattended plus route selection. thanks. |

The observatory road is now paved up to the pine trees and Rancho Coyote (a motorcycle riders resort) is just a few good dirt road miles off the pavement. Perhaps drive your truck there and do a lot more riding in the high country?
I made a road log on this web page of our trip past Mike's going from San Quintin to San Felipe... It may be helpful? Mike's Sky Rancho trip |

Glad it will be usefull to you... Remember to change the map datum settings on your GPS to 'NAD27 Mexico' before entering my waypoints!
The factory setting is map datum WGS84 and Mexican Topo maps (and the Baja Almanac map book) is drawn to NAD27, so I post waypoints at that datum. |
