Welcome back down! I spent 4 years away until last winter, then back to Paradise 'till mid-May.
Roads are all 'the same', dunno about TJ to Ensenada, but from there south pretty much as usual, most good other than some
Catavina stretches to Guerrero, then on is all good. The Bahia L.A. road is paved, and 2 Pemex in town. Still not one at
the junction though, so the El Rosario to Guerrero is still the long dry run. Catavina still has the barrels (i wouldn't).
ONE
ADVISO- I'd placed a post in the Mulege forum last winter about the FMT or Tourist Card. Note the last post from Skipper
T that there's a new form called the 'FMM' you need... which is for all intents the same thing, only different (*shakes head*)...
supposedly have to 'show it to a border rep.' when crossing and have 48 hours to pay for at a bank. Before this change, the
change that bit me on the derriere was the Tourist Card; used to pick it up anywhere (i did at the N/S border @ Guerrero)
and then validate 'soon', but this year i got ours in Sta.Rosalia and ended up paying over $100 in fines for not doing it
AT the border zone as soon as i crossed. So if you're a Law Abiding Tourist for keeping legit, that's the only thing to worry
about.
Also, there's been a little more thievery than usual in Paradise, so watch your stuff a little closer. One
private airplane hijacking at the Serenidad a month ago, too. Oh, and Mulege has a bank ! A real one you can get pesos from
an ATM. Propane is still either Sta. R. or Loreto (or the old gravity fill @ Yee's). Otherwise, es mismo en La Vida Loca.
Hope to see you there Oct/Nov-ish ourselves, too freakin' hot there now (been there, done that in August ... ONCE). Hope
this helps, y que la via bien.
