Any information on recent road conditions south of Puertecitos would be appreciated. Some friends and I (geezy riders) will be riding dual sport motorcycles south in late February. We've ridden Baja in the past but not this road. Have heard it's deteriorated some in the past year. Thanks.

Hi bikerbay,

I was last over that road almost a year ago, but have been hearing from others who recently drove it... it is still very, very rocky and slow (for autos). On a dual sport you should be fine.

Pavement ends at Puertecitos, 55 miles from San Felipe. No fuel at Puertecitos. Good graded road lasts for about 8 miles south of Puertecitos (maintained by mine crew to their road)...

Then the next 40 some miles to Gonzaga Bay is very rough. Gas at Gonzaga Pemex if open or across the road at Rancho Grande's pump...

The next 36 miles are better to Hwy. 1. Stop at Coco's Corner half way in for a beer and sign Coco's book.

See photos of the road (on a trip going north on it last year): 2-07 Baja trip, Gonzaga north
