im driving to cabo from phx az,end of june, will leave from nogales boarder, how much is gas, tolls, ferry across for a car/truck not sure yet, can i drive to ferry los moches in a day?, i cant remember name of ferry that takes freight trucks/cars to la paz, when it leaves, etc.any help welcome, can write me dirrectly alexgarreton@hotmail.com
If I were making that trip, I would take I-8 to Tijuana and drive down baja. The road is good at the scenery worth the trip. It is my impression that the ferry prices are upwards of $100. Gas is $0.59 which converst to something close to current US prices. In addition, there were recently special administrative procedures necessary to take a vehicle onto the Mexican mainland that do not exist in Baja. I've heard rumors that those rules have been dropped but don't know for sure. There are no tolls on the Baja highway. If you follow my suggestion. Fill your tank at El Rosario as there are no stations for the next 200 or so miles. I hope this helps
NONONO!! Do the ferry!!! I've done it!! Check out www.bajaferries.com.mx you can get all the info there. The trip is much, much easier than going through baja!Basically you are in La Paz the very next day.
I went in a pickup and the cost for 2 people the truck and a very nice room with 4 bunks was less than $300 usd. If you don't do the room you will save probably $100 usd but the room has a shower! Plus, I could sleep. The food is not good so take a some on board. We left early from phoenix and were in Topo by 4pm. Plus the read is a 4 lane highway and you will probably pay less than $50 usd.
I enjoy the drive - there is so much to see between the border and Cabo. Check out the road report and article about driving south. http://www.bajainsider.com/driving-baja/baja-road-report.htm Gas is actually cheaper than in CA right now and it's not too hot yet in the desert.
