Tony Marquez reporting for Don Eddie Sportfishing in San Quintin. Tony offers
the following information for the waters off San Quintin:

Date: December 8, 2002
At first, it looked like it was going to be a very wet Thanksgiving Tournament. It rained Thanksgiving day and only half of the participants showed up.

15 anglers were ready to go Friday morning. it was a great day for being out in the water, what started out with everybody in rain gear, turn out with everybody in shorts and t-shirts. The sun was out all day, the sea was calm and the bait was caught in front of Don Eddie's, after the first round, the largest fish weighed was a 9.4 lbs Lingcod.

Saturday was a different story with a few yellows and lots of lings up to 17 lbs. Rockcod a staying strong at the 240 spot, lots of barracudas at the north part of the island, Ben's rock was very slow, the 15 spot was strong with lings.
First place went to Vicente Delgado from Vista CA. who won with a 17.7 lb. Lingcod $325.00 and the first place trophy.

Second place went to Perfecto Luna from Carlsbad CA. who won with an 11.4 yellow $162.00 and the second place trophy. Both first and second place were on the same boat skippered by Jaime Garcia who also took two trophies home with him.

Third place went to Art Close from Long Beach CA. who won with a 9.8 lingcod $$97.00 and the third place trophy. Bear was the Captain of Art's private boat and took a trophy. Although the turnout was small, we all had a good time. Thanks for coming.

Here are next years tournament dates: Easter: April 18,19 4th of July: July 4,5 Labor: August 30,31 Thanksgiving: November 28,29 We are going to make some changes for next year on the tournaments which I will inform you of.

Saludos

Tony
