Hi,
Does anyone know the current condition of the dirt road from Highway 1 out to San Luis Gonzaga? While we have been over that road several times, in the next few weeks we want to take a small travel trailer over that road. Also, how is the road to Puertocitos and beyond. Last time the "paved" part north of Puertocitos was terrible.
Thanks

We just got back tonight 1-1-05. Came through Puertecitos 12-26-04 and paved road is pretty bad last 8 miles. Lots of potholes and sections of pavement missing. No problem if taking it easy. Saw several cars and vehicles pulling trailers through area. Dirt road section all the way to Laguna Chapala heading south is pretty much same as always. We aired down tires a little and traveled much of it at 25MPH. We got 1 flat tire, probably from traveling a little to fast in one area. Saw one couple drive a rental car (Toyota Corolla) all the way through with no problems. I had a hard time keeping up.
One thing to keep in mind is that the last 2 miles of flat area before Mex 1 was extremely muddy. We came through at the end of the storm that rained in this spot for 3 days. Very passable and will probably dry in a few days. By the way Laguna Chapala (Dry Lake) looks like a huge lake along east side of freeway. Other than that the desert from El Rosario to Bay of LA turn off along Mex 1 is incredibly awesome from all the rain.
Have Fun.

Thanks for the update, Jonathan. We hope to leave for Baja next week. Not sure where we will end up.
