ME AND MY HUSBAND ARE ABOUT TO DO THE SAME. WE ARE MOVING TO CABO AND HAVE TO MAKE THE LONG LONG JOURNEY THERE. I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF I HEAR ANYTHING ON ROAD CONDITIONS. IF YOU GET ANY UPDATES THAT YOU CAN PASS ALONG THAT WOULD BE APPRECIATED AS WELL.

Thank you Debi and Chris. We are also considering Cabo for a home 1/2 the year so far. We will be driving down the pen around Oct 2,3,4 and will be in Cabo for the 5-15 and then headed back, so will be sure to note all conditions and gas availability during the trip for everyone as well. Thank you again for the reply.

THANKS FOR THE UPDATE! I HAVE BEEN TOLD NOT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT DUE TO THE FREE RANGE COWS AND NO LIGHTS ON THE ROADWAYS BETWEEN TOWNS.

DO YOU HAVE ANY INSIGHT ON PLACES TO STOP AND STAY FOR THE NIGHT SO WE DON'T HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH FREE RANGE ANIMALS?

Try www.lapintahotels.com , they are evenly spaced out from Ensenada to Loreto (every 200 miles or so), very nice and comfortable. We have stayed with them a couple of times and will return to them this trip.

My husband and I made the drive from TJ to Cabo two weeks ago. There were parts where the roads were washed out but everything was passable. We towed a 25ft fifth wheel and had no problems whatsoever. I was very worked up about the roads - not just because of the hurricane but everything I had been told. Yes, the roads were narrow but all in all were not nearly as I had anticipated. As everyone else suggests, take your time, don't drive at night and enjoy yourself!

Thanks for the info. I do have a few questions. Can you recommend any hotels/motels to stop at for our overnight stay? How many times did you stop from Tuajuana to Cabo? We will be traveling with 3 dogs. And, did you get your FMT tourist card in Tiajuana or wait until Ensenada? and what was the process? I hear that you have to get thru the border and go into the immigration office to get this done? Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

WHEN crossing border at tj stay in far right hand lane and park in that first area on left. go into imigration office and get form then walk down to another office/bank and pay. then back to imigration office for stamp. try to make it to el rosario and stay at baja cactus and dine at mama espinosas. from there you can make mulege or loreto
