Hey everyone,
David here again. Just trying to think of a way to make a few bucks here and there so I've decided to lend my services to any Americans who need it. I can do the following:

Yard Maintenance
Window cleaning
Plant watering, weekly
Sprinlker line buliding
Outside painting
General home maintenance
General auto-truck-boat-motorcycle-quad maintenance
Washer/dryer repairs

I'm handy in alot of ways but those that I've listed above are areas where I've actually help positions of employement in.

I'm based out of Mulege, no phone, so this would be the best way to get ahold of me or by my other email addresses, which are:

vmxracer1@yahoo.com
dguillory@gmail.com

Thanks to all and I hope to hear from you...

David

David -

As Glenne noted in your other posting "Boat Ramps" - Everything you're looking to do for a little dinero is exactly what the locals call their home field advantage. Within days (maybe even a day) they would have the authorities on you. During this time of year, the locals watch everything you do - everything (ie., your stolen property at the beach).

Best to lay low at least until the Gringos return the last of september (makes for more people they have to watch - and - more people watching them).

Best to meet up with some of the Gringos who are always there - get the full skinny.

David, sorry to hear about the rip-off. Welcome to Baja... it is a paradise, but has it's price.

I tried the same gig you're doing some *mumble* years ago and learned immediately; you CAN'T do any work there that a citizen can. If you're caught... and like Glenn and Skipper T said, the locals WILL report you in a heartbeat... you can be arrested, and ALL OF YOUR POSESSIONS may be confiscated AND NOT RETURNED TO YOU, and you then are transported to the border and DEPORTED which means don't ever come back.

The whole gist of your situation is: Mexico wants you to come and visit (or live) and SPEND your money there, not take it from the mouths of the people. That is how they see it. There's been thousands of us potintial ex-pats that fell in love with the place, too young to retire, and wanted to just have a way to get by; just make a living, not a killing, but we must face it, we aren't welcome there in that context. Not unless the wealth is shared.

It's still do-able, especially since NAFTA, but unless you get a Mexican corporation going (equivalent to our LLC) and do it above-board, and give a job or two to some locals, and have a little $$ behind you to start with, you're kind of S.O.L. my friend. And be careful, when the beaches are empty everything grows legs. It's still a very impoverished country, and you must realize what kind of threat your quest imposes on them.

As Skipper said, lay low, and learn. I would have given my right ..er... toe.. to live and work there in The Day. Now that I have the means and it could happen, and have spent several winters there, I wouldn't. Again, never invest in Mexico what you can't afford to lose (or Dow Jones for that matter).

Hope to see you on the beach in a few months if you can stand the furnace for now (and hopefully no Chubasco's). Say hello to Mark at the AARRRGGHH Bar (Buenaventura) for me.

And keep a third eye on your Stuff.

This is the same answer you got when you raised this question earlier. Mulege is NOT a cheap place to live. Camping on empty beaches is no longer a good idea. Most of us think that Mexican owned and operated business's are a good thing. If it was like the US why would we go there? I lived in Mulege for about 26 years and loved it...AS it IS (was). I had a big garden, fished a lot, bartered some (fish for meals etc) ans lived large..Not as large as the Buddha maybe....Got stuff lifted from time to time.always on empty beaches...thas it..

Hey Chuck,
It seems to me that EVERYONE on this forum (glenne, bajabuddah, ect.) is pleasant, respectful and very informative, except you. If you don't have anything positive to say, especially in regards to when I put up a post, keep your thoughts to yourself, okay???....thanx and have a great day.
