Photos from the newspaper El Sudcaliforniano showing damages, flooding in Insurgentes-Constitution area as well as up to Sta. Rosalia can be found at:

http://www.oem.com.mx/elsudcaliforniano/notas/n829266.htm#

Once at this page, look on the top right of the main frame where it says:

“Galeria” El disaster desde las alturas. Click on this Photo.

On the Window that pops up, click on the red arrow “siguiente” (to go forward) or “anterior” to go back.

They really took a hit there.

This is going to be a general update of the situation in Mulege:

Starting at the top, Jorge's got about 8'-10' of water. The Orchard got 6'-8' depending on the location. No house that I've been able to see in the Orchard flooded above the first floor. Homes in the second row had water lines six feet above the ground. The Oasis got about 5-6 feet of water near the river, down to 3-4' in the back rows near the highway including the office. Leon is fine and doesn't need any supplies or help. Homes near the Jungle and near the river got 5-6 feet of water in them. Homes toward the highway were above the flood water line.

Phone, power and water on the south side of the river are still out. Tomorrow I will be talking with Ken at the Cuesta Real to get an idea of when he will reopen.

Homes out in the valley- Martin Martinez' for instance- got between 2'-5' depending on location. The ice house road businesses had 2'-4' of water inside.

There is reportedly a church in Mulege that is accepting clothing donations for people displaced by the flood. More info on that tomorrow after I chase this report down. Clothing is ALWAYS appreciated.

Road conditions: Hwy 1 is open to Cabo. There are a few bad spots but you can get through.

We are currently experiencing great weather. The sun isn't really out a lot so it isn't too hot but it's warm enough to start drying things out and no rain is in the immediate forecast.

If you are coming down to check on or clean your homes and have some spare room in your vehicle, clothing is probably the most needed thing right now and, from what I've seen, it isn't a really high priority but, as always, it will be appreciated.

That's about it. If anyone has any questions not covered by the above, my e-mail is mexrick@gmail.com

Leon's house survived as did all the homes in the Oasis. They just got a lot of mud and water inside. I have no idea on the status of the animals and I haven't seen Peepeeo for a couple of weeks at least. Shrimp season begins on the 14th so I'm sure he'll be around selling his overpriced shrimp!!!

For what it's worth, the water was virtually non-existent at the Serenidad so I'm sure the animals are OK... that is if Peepeeo didn't eat them!

Updates! We were in Mulege Sunday morning, we spoke with Judy Juhl from the Oasis. According to her:
George & Cheryl are good!
Hugh Llewallyn is fine!
Leon, no surprise, is fine!
No word on the party that guiltydebi is looking for.
The Oasis is a mess, but not a total mess. Lot's of cleanup going on. Still no internet as of noon on Sunday. El Candil bar & grill is open, lots of locals hanging out, swapping stories. Jungle Jim's will have a locals party on Monday at 3 pm.
