Hopefully most everyone with damage will have purchased insurance. It will be interesting & important to see which insurance companies respond in a timely manner. Insurance claims can be complicated and the outcome of a claim, many times, can be other than satisfactory. Of course Insurance Companies don't pay claims unless they are obligated to do so by the provisions of your policy. Good luck to all of you with damage.

ESPECIALLY if you DON'T have insurance... READ THIS !!!

Revised Address to Register as a person/family affected by the flood:

Americans & others with losses need to make a formal statement to authorities.(in Spanish- translation is avail) to qualify for subsequent assistance.

Can be very simple:
"I am_ . I own the prop at __________. (bring proof if avail)
I lost the house & THESE POSSESSIONS:___________________________
The local official Agent is Lic.Maria Isela Nunez Marquez
location is now at Ministerio Publico on the Main St across from Pemex Station in town. You will get a stamped certificate REGISTERING that you were here and lost property. This will be the only “proof” that will be considered in the future for any future relief emanating from Fed Gov in Mx City.

If you are registered, you will receive the same opportunity for benefits as Mexican citizens. Tell your neighbors, please. The BCS State rport to the Fed is a compilation of known losses, which then triggers "disastre" aid.

Thanks for that point --

Get someone to take pics now. Create the inventory list, from receipts, memory, whatever.

WHEN you come back -you must do in person, with ID & copies of documentation of ownership papers - present yourself to the Ministerio Publico and you will get the certificate.
Note that the STATE govt is compiling the disaster needs list soon, so don't wait till after they've given everything out. No limit officially, but practically .... sooner the better.
If there is no one here to do that (fotos) for you, let me know. I will arrange it.

Thanks for the info. I have interior shots of the total mess but would appreciate better photos to present to gov. I am compiling list of interior items but the problem is I didn't save receipts. Shall I make a guestimate. Most of the items were purchased either from Diana Johnson or Nancy's I have only lease papers and FM-3 to present to gov as I own house or what was left standing. Tentative plans are to come down after dengue threats have passed. Could Jorge Yee file for me in absentia....so many questions. Thanks for whatever info you can provide.

Find as many before pictures as possible and take pictures of everything and i mean everything. Clothes, food, furniture, everything. Any reciepts you have would be best but nobody has receipts for everything. try to set as many prices as you can. I think it`s going to be like pulling teeth.
