If anyone has actually driven from TJ to Mulege in the last few days please let the rest of us know if we can get through with a vehicle pulling a trailer, or a motorhome. Do you need 4wd to make it through? What if any problems will we encounter, and where will they be? The last post I read said that only small vehicles were allowed through. I'm sure conditions have improved since then.

Thanks,
Tammy

Word as of Sunday noon was that road is open. A posting elsewhere by someone who pulled his boat out & back to states from Punto Chivato was that there was:
1) Big rock in one lane @ top of grade down into Santa Rosalia, so road is one lane only there, and
2) coupla detours Santa Rosalia to Mulege where the temporary work is so rough he was surprised he didn't bread the axle on his boat trailer.

But big trucks and busses are rolling, and there is other traffic on the road, so the short answer is yes, road is open, and yes- its a good time for a vacation to one of those beautiful beaches that you will have practically to yourself.

The roads are open. My dad and brother drove from Sacramento to Mulege. He arrived Monday morning in Mulege. He says the roads are somewhat bad including mudslides, but he was able to make it with a 2wd truck. If you will be taking supplies to Mulege, Good Luck. My dad was stopped twice by the soldiers and the first time was turned around and sent back to the US. The second time he explained to the soldiers that his parents and family were in Mulege and he was taking water, clothes and food to them. Not sure how he convinced them but they allowed him to take it. They told him taking used clothes is a big offense and not allowed. New clothes was allowed but would have to pay taxes on them. They said they were giving him a break.

Thanks Monica. It's too bad your Dad was hassled. They should be bending over backwards for anyone offering them help right now. I'm glad he made it down there safe and sound.

Regards,
Tammy
