WARNING NEVER GET GAS IN SANTA ROSALIAS OLD GAS STATION BECAUSE THEY RIP YOU OFF. WE WERE THERE SATURDAY JULY 27 2008 GOT OVERCHARGED ABOUT 110.00 PESOS. AND ITS 110 BECAUSE THAT WAS THE FIRST AMOUNT THAT THEY "PUMPED" INTO MY CAR BEFORE THEY ZEROED THE PUMP AGAIN AND STARTED OVER. SO BE CAREFULL AND GO ALL THE WAY TO VISCAINO OR MULEGE.

Just for info, last yr i filled up in mulege and they attempted to rip me off. Fortunately I keep track of the pump and after arguing for awhile the attended nodded and then pointed to the correct price on the other side of the pump. so long story short, you just have to never leave the pumps while they are pumping. when they shut off pump i write the amount and liters down infront of them before they restart the pump. The station in santa rosalia near harbor does seem to be more respectable and friendly.

Unfortuneately, the old station in Santa Rosalia now displays the 'QUALLI'. So even tho the sign is there, it is still to avoid.

Bad reputation very well earned and it is notable that there are very few customers there now.

What goes around comes around, huh?

The Old Station is a Qualli?!!! Very unfortunate as that means we can't trust that designation any more. Wonder if they stole the sign(s) too?

I was there last Spring to top-off my Jeep and a mile down the road noticed the guage hadn't moved. Thought I was really watching them closely as I knew their reputation. Went right back, confronted the same attendant, was indignant and loud, and they filled the tank for 'free'.

Frankly, anywhere in Mexico, from Baja Norte to Qintana Roo, you have to be vigilant all the time. We Gringos appear to be so rich, and they are so poor, even fairly 'honest' people are tempted.

Near Chitzen Itza recently I saw a 'new scam'. I handed the guy a 200 Peso note and turned to my wife for more money, when I turned back the note had turned into a 20? Presto! I was so pissed that I left him the 200 and that is all I paid.

Caveat Emptor

They have been doing that for years. A variation on that theme: Once I was filling up there and when they thought I wasnt looking, stuck the nozzle into one of their rigs, on my buck! Gotcha! Busted! The one in Downtown Gurerero Negro was just as bad...Watchem!
