May have access of Kubota tractor with scoop bucket and dump trailer. Thinking about taking it down to Mulege. Any thoughts about getting it across border? Logistic ideas. May be a hair-brain idea, but worth chatting about.

They'll want import duty on that for sure. You can contact the consulate either in San Diego or Sacramento to inquire about how much it'll cost. It'd sure be nice to have available.

If you are still serious about it, please advise what your thinking is. Would you leave it here permanently? Diesel or gas? Make available to other operators, or only yourself? Donating the vehicle and your time? Loaning it it out? Or RENTING it out?
Once here, there are labor issues and Union issues to consider. Definitely welcome and needed. We can help with permits depending on the answers to above.
In fact any additional heavy machinery on a permanent basis here ,I'd be interested in pursuing.

Leon @ Oasis told me Sunday he had hired a backhoe to come in & help w/the mud-abatement. Everybody is throwing the mud into piles in the streets (I suppose there's no great alternative @ this point) and it'll have to go somehwere. A shovel brigade would do it, but what a waste of human capital.

Yes, I am serious. It would be a diesel Kubota tractor with possible dump trailer that would be used to haul the tractor down there. Would be perfect for there as it is a small, high manuverable unit. It would be available to other operators, with a possible donation of equipment when we are through with it. This is all still in concept stage. Many famers are in the Delta are done with the tractors and return them the tractor to dealers from rental. Dealers then service and sell these tractors at a big discount. Scoop bucket on front with grabber top and backhoe on back, 4x4 units. I have operated a fiends tractor up here in Arnold, CA. Right now these units are availble with no down/36 mon 0% interest. Would like to recoop investment only, so would have to rent out to others? Possible hire of Mexican operator? Could see where the tractor would be a great help, but am not sure it is fesible

The governor's representative did inform the public that duties have been suspended on goods coming into Baja for the specific purpose of the hurricane relief efforts. There was no date given as to the end of that window. If you bring it, check carefully with appropriate agencies before you cross the border.

I have spoken with the Governor's office on this, expediting permits may be able to be accomplished. Besides your unit, can you U2U me a list of eqpt types available now under the terms you mentioned? Or refer me to the leasing offices/dealers you know specifically have product. There is a tremendous need that mere manpower cannot handle short term. Not to mention that some existing units here were damaged and can't be used!
