It's been a few years since i have done La Baja... what is the average per-liter cost at the Pemex pumps currently? Is there a station in Bahia de Losangeles and/or the Hwy 1 Jct., or is it still hand pumped from rusty barrels? Also, any need-to-avoid stations/towns on the way down (like the infamous Sta. Rosalia pumps)? Lastly, any major tie-ups or travel delays on Hwy 1 from Tecate to Mulege? Thanx.
Magna (regular Unleaded) was about $2.20/ gallon last month.
There are two Pemex stations at Bahia de los Angeles, now. One was opened about 4 years ago.
No station at the Hwy. 1/ L.A. Bay jcn., but independent dealers are selling from gas cans there and at Cataviña, as well, as always.
The Pemex station on the east side of the highway NEXT to the harbor in Santa Rosalia is the good one! The other 3 are owned by the same guy I heard and you want to avoid.
Went to Loreto in July and was great... dirt detours south of Maneadero and through Vizcaino then.
We just came from Tecate to Mulege 2 days ago. There is a very long stretch between Tecate and Ensenata that is dirt and very rough as they are repaving the highway. Other than that, we had a pleasant boarder crossing and a great trip.
